Where it Began
The Menlo Club was looking to have their exclusive men’s fashion subscription service running smoothly, but also wanted the ability to easily make updates to their site.
Once the discovery phase was completed, we understood that they needed us to build and launch their site in time to get the winter collection public during the holiday season. Our team got to work on figuring out how it would all work together.
By partnering up with BigCommerce and the payment app team from MiniBC, we were able to address their needs and focus on making the most common user journeys absolutely seamless before launch.
What it Looked Like
The key theme we wanted to maintain throughout The Menlo Club site redesign, and the subscription service, was to always keep them fresh!
Due to their limited inventory, it was important to make sure subscribers received premium access and exclusive benefits. These include:
- One new box every quarter
- Selections from a variety of different brands
- Priority notifications of season launches
- Access to members-only box add-ons
Creating a Custom Experience
From a development point of view, the custom size selections for members was one of the trickiest elements to bring to life. This feature allows for members to pre-select their sizes so they are only shown items in their specific size.
Members are able to see items in their specific tastes, view pairing suggestions, and add-on options. Our team took what you can do natively with BigCommerce and stretched it even further in order to make a truly custom experience!
Bespoke & Easy User Flow
This type of user flow has led to a significant decrease in purchase friction, and allows the member to feel more comfortable making purchases that they might ignore during a typical ecommerce shopping experience.
By including everything a member might need, the whole subscription process became easier, which helps increase AOV and positively impact the brand’s success.

Since The Menlo Club site launched, our Arctic Leaf team has continually made improvements on the site. Working in collaboration with their team, we have added more branded elements, used UGC effectively, and we are even building them some back end apps to improve their merchandising experience!
