This October, Arctic Leaf CEO, Josh Garellek, traded his business suit for boxing trunks at the Heart and Crown Fight for the Cure event and fundraiser in Gatineau, Canada. The white-collar charity boxing gala is a one-of-a-kind event supporting the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. Their unique cancer coaching, clinical trials, and groundbreaking research programs help individuals diagnosed with cancer and their families in the Ottawa community.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the event took place at the Hilton Lac-Leamy Hotel. A cheering crowd of over 1,000 people surrounded the boxing ring erected in the ballroom. Together with participants and sponsors, they helped to raise over $1M for ORCF, nearly doubling Fight for the Cure’s last in-person event in 2019. This included proceeds from the pay-per-view event which Arctic Leaf employees enjoyed at watch parties coast-to-coast on the evening of the event.

The fundraiser boasts 6 bouts, each participant a CEO, owner, or general manager who is required to train two-to-three times a week for at least seven months prior to the charity boxing gala. Boxing is considered one of the toughest sports in the world, and Josh started this journey in October 2021. After a full year of training, Josh stepped into the ring and went three rounds against Phil Lemieux, GM of Airon Group of Companies, and won!

“There will always be ups and downs along the way, but it’s how you handle yourself in the face of adversity that sets you apart from the rest. Between the pandemic, being a business owner, father, husband, partner, and friend, I have faced more challenges in the last few years than I would like to share. However, I chose to overcome and face those challenges head-on with my journey to Fight for the Cure!” - Josh Garellek, CEO Arctic Leaf

We are very proud of our CEO for participating in this charity boxing event and bringing awareness to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation’s work. Donations are still open on Josh Garellek’s donation page where you, too, can support this amazing cause!

Fight for the Cure was created in 2008 by Scott and Matt Whitteker. The brothers co-founded the e-commerce sports marketing platform MILLIONS.co, connecting the sports world through technology.
